Sep 10 , 2003- Trek Receives New Patent Approvals From 8 Countries

Mainboard listed engineering solutions provider, Trek 2000 International Ltd (“Trek” or “the Company”) today announced that it has received patent approvals from 8 countries for its portable data storage and biometrics devices.

These portable data storage and biometrics devices are the renowned ThumbDrives sold by Trek around the world. The 8 countries include United Kingdom, South Africa, Nigeria, New Zealand, Mongolia, South Korea, Lebanon and Bahrain.

The portable data storage device or the generic ThumbDrive has now received patent approvals in United Kingdom, Mongolia, Nigeria, New Zealand, South Africa, Lebanon and South Korea. The biometrics ThumbDrive has received patent approvals in Lebanon and Bahrain. In addition to these 8 new geographic footprints, Trek also received patent approvals for both portable data storage and biometrics devices from Singapore and for the biometrics in Namibia between April 2002 and April 2003.

Commenting on these new patent approvals, Trek Chairman and CEO, Mr Henn Tan said: “we are very encouraged by the new patent approvals as this reflects the increasing awareness in many countries about the importance of intellectual property rights protection. Within the near future, we hope to be able to announce more patent approvals from other countries especially those from major economies whose endorsement to the protection of intellectual property rights will be of significance to the rest of the world.”

Trek has filed a total of 16 patent applications for its engineering solutions as at 30 June 2003. These patent approvals will have no significant impact on the current financial year performance of Trek 2000 International Ltd.
